THE POWER Of HORSES TO HEAL
Our goal is to help veterans and first responders who experienced life-disrupting trauma to recover from their limitations, to repurpose their talents and abilities to a successful life, and to reintegrate into their families, workplaces, and communities. We envision a community of combat veterans, first responders and others who support one another as each individual moves from trauma through recovery to a productive and sustainable life.

RECREATION
The Fallen Outdoors
mission is to organize outdoor adventures for veterans past and present, from every generation and from all branches of the military. Our aim is to connect Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, and Marines with like-minded individuals along with teaching them a skill and passion they can continue for a lifetime.
The Fallen Outdoors began in 2009 at a remote outpost in Afghanistan with three soldiers; SSG John Bates, Spc Eric Finniginamm and Spc Eric Bakken. Year after year The Fallen Outdoors (TFO) grew and expanded, they put in every extra second they had while on active duty. Today the TFO serves thousands of veterans a year across this great nation. What started off as a simple idea to help veterans get outdoors has transformed into a lifestyle that the TFO nation lives and breathes every day.

Kentucky Veteran Financial Benefits
Income Tax
See the following website for more information: https://revenue.ky.gov/Individual/Pages/Military-Tax-Issues.aspx
Military income is tax-free.
Military retirement pay is tax-exempt up to $31,110. If receiving more than $31,110, only the portion above that amount may be taxed.
If you are retired from the federal government then you may be able to exclude more than $31,110. You must complete Schedule P to determine how much of your pension income is taxable.
Property Tax for Disabled Veterans
For more information, visit the following site: https://revenue.ky.gov/Property/Residential-Farm-Commercial-Property/Pages/Homestead-Exemption.aspx
Totally disabled veterans are eligible for up to a $40,500 deduction on the assessed value of their home for property tax purposes.
The homeowner must have been receiving payments pursuant to his or her disability for the entire assessment period.
The homeowner must apply annually to continue to receive the exemption based upon a total disability, unless:
- They are a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and have a service connected disability
- They have been determined to be totally and permanently disabled under the rules of the Social Security Administration; or
- They have been determined to be totally and permanently disabled under the rules of the Kentucky Retirement Systems.
The value of the homestead exemption for the 2019-2020 assessment years is $39,300. This amount is deducted from the assessed value of the applicant’s home and property taxes are computed based upon the remaining assessment. For example, if the applicant’s residence is assessed at a value of $200,000, property taxes would be computed on $160,700 (200,000 – 39,300). The amount of the homestead exemption is recalculated every two years to adjust for inflation. The next adjustment will be effective for the 2021 and 2022 assessment years.
Submitting a Homestead Exemption Application:
- Complete the Application For Exemption Under The Homestead/Disability Amendment – Form 62A350 Link to Document: https://revenue.ky.gov/Forms/62A350.pdf
- Gather any supporting documentation
- Contact your local Property Value Administrator.
Consult the local assessor’s office for detailed requirements regarding these exemptions.
Annual refiling is required.
