COMMANDER’S CORNER
As we conclude spring and shift into our summer routines, our Post is refurbished. Both the Post and our Annex are in new shape. We await a floor refinish in the Post Hall. The ceiling tiles in the Hall were replaced and the roof is sealed with no leaks evident. The offices now enjoy a fresh interior with new Air Conditioning and window shades. Patron pride is very high as we all enjoy our new facilities. The regional Corn Hole League really looks forward to scheduling their games in our Hall. That is a win-win!!
The Legion’s Department of Kentucky will hold its convention during the 19-21 June period in Louisville. Our Post is sending Vice Commander Regena Carney and Post Adjutant Susan Craddock. While it is the first visit by Susan, Regena attended last year. The huge advantage in attending is the ability to return home with our Post membership cards for next year.
Kudos to the Radio Club! In spite of some losses, they continue to attract members. Each June, they report their club membership and this year they come in with 39 members. Every weekend, they practice their art by participating in scheduled activities in their club room. With their clubroom refurbished, air conditioning, and a sealed roof, they relish their radio room. They continue to provide testing for aspiring hams on a quarterly basis and support the State of Kentucky when they practice their emergency comms exercises.
We need to tip our hats and give thanks to the Social Club staff. There are only 3 of them(shift managers) covering long shifts and often very hectic activities. Additionally, they schedule the Post, manage band and karaoke events, pay out charitable gaming wins, perform post maintenance functions, and manage the security of the entire Post. They operate with the authority of the Post Commander. They can do this as the Post operates as a family with that type of environment. On occasion, the Ladies led by Ruby, will cook up some food for the shift or large meals for the Post’s District Meeting and holiday celebrations.
Our Post continues to do well thanks to the high participation rate of its members. Our Charitable gaming is a huge success which enabled our Post refurbishment and our greatly increased Charitable giving to local charities/activities. The members enjoy the games, and they pay out well for this type of activity.
Enjoy your summer, beware of the heat and long sun exposure! July 4th is our next Holiday! Give it some thought.
The next membership meeting is 1 July 2025 at 7 PM.
Respectfully,
Tony A. Cromwell
