2026 May

COMMANDER’S CORNER

Hello May!! The warmer weather is refreshing with just occasional cooler periods.  We also get a chance to practice our lawn mowing and landscaping skills. Hi!

At our membership meeting on 5 May, our current slate of officers was reelected for another year in their current offices.  Our Post membership is elated with the progress our Post has made and wanted to leave the officers in place to continue that successful work.  This past year has been a wonderful year of growth for each of our officers in the execution of their offices.  The primary engine of our growth is our charitable gaming which enabled our Post to donate a historic amount of funds into a list of charitable organizations as well as refurbish our Post.  We are grateful to G2 gaming for their flawless and generous support.  The recent KY legislative gaming changes kept many of our Charitable gaming groups active defending our gaming roles that enable huge positive changes in our local communities.  Our Post 46 is budgeted to donate some $80K to our local charities.

There are several activities coming up over the next few months that will be honoring veterans and the 250th birthday of our nation.  Post 46 will enter a July 4th parade in Danville with its historic first parade float.  We thank our Auxiliary for taking the lead in creating this float.  When it comes to artistry, best left to the ladies!  Danville is going all out on this event with a scheduled fly over of military planes.  Many of the Danville veterans will have their images displayed in banners suspended from the city light poles.

Burgin High School is honoring veterans on 9 May and invited our veterans to attend.  Sr. Vice Harold Miller, Vice Cmdr. Regena Carney and Adj Susan Craddock will attend and represent our Lady veterans.

Thompson Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore will honor some 250 veterans of whom 150 reside at the Center June 11-13th.  Regena and Susan will represent our Post.  Thompson Hood is one of the large beneficiaries of our charity donations.  It is gratifying to enable our lady veterans to get the honors they earned.

The Ky Department will host its annual convention in Louisville on June 18-20th.  Again, Regena and Susan will represent our Post.  The Legion’s National Convention will be held in Louisville from August 28 to Sept 3rd at the Kentucky international Convention Center.

We will be offering a new activity in our Post Hall.  A professional Table Tennis table w/net has been donated by one of veterans.  We can fold it up against the wall during regional Corn Hole tournaments.  We need to purchase paddles and balls.

Enjoy the emerging Spring and coming Summer.  Be safe in your outside activities!! Thank you for your continuing support of our Post!!

The next membership meeting is on 2 June 2026 at 7 PM.

Respectfully,

Tony A. Cromwell,  Post Commander   kypost46@gmail.com
