December 2025

COMMANDER’S CORNER

What a great Thanksgiving! As a Post, we have a great deal to appreciate! Ruby and her ladies did a fantastic job on the free annual Post Thanksgiving dinner! The dinner was well attended and greatly appreciated.
Our upcoming Christmas party will be more of a Luncheon type at 6:00 PM on the 19 th of December. It is free to attend as usual, and you can bring a food item if you desire to increase the diversity of offerings. Festivities
will follow the Luncheon, e.g. Dirty Santa. Historically, this event was a lot of fun for the attendees.
Our Post activities continue a high level with the Post hosting the regional Corn Hole games every weekend. Check our Post schedule to see which band may be playing. Karaoke is also featured. With the holidays, we add in the dinner, luncheon, and food nights. As a post, these activities fuel financial success, and we are very proud of our charitable giving record. We just completed our planned donations to the major charities. Our yearly total is now $48K.
We also work with the community. A great example is our work with the Burgin High School. Currently, Sr. Vice Harold Miller is working with the school to provide a class and club for Amateur Radio. The school previously had a teacher that worked in this effort. With that loss, Harold and the Post’s Ham Radio Club (WRARC) is working to establish a permanent class and club room in their high school. The Post radio club just voted to donate a radio needed for that club. Last fall, the Burgin High School baseball team (The Bulldogs),
received full sponsorship from our Post. We anticipate a repeat of that sponsorship this coming Springtime. On behalf of our membership, we sincerely thank Harold and the WRARC for their work and commitment to
this project. A number of young Burgin High schoolers will benefit from this educational opportunity.
We are still recruiting applicants for the Legion’s Oratorical contest. It’s an easy way for students to earn some college tuition cash. As we get into next year, we want to send some students (Juniors) to Boys and Girls Camp at the end of the school year.
Don’t forget to check out the latest on our Post web page. Sr. Vice Miller does an excellent job updating it. While you are on the Post web page, click on the Calendar page. Your Social Club hosts two or three bands each month. Also, do you want some company to watch football? It is always on in the Social Club.
On behalf of our membership, please accept my wish for each of you to have a very merry Christmas and a happy, prosperous New Year!!

The next membership meeting is on 5 January 2026 at 7 PM.

Respectfully,
Tony A. Cromwell
